GCSE Physics tuition in London
Physics asks students to use maths to explain what is happening around them. At Advanced Tuition in London, we teach the concepts and the calculations together, then practise the questions that bring several ideas into one problem. Classes of up to five allow tutors to work through individual difficulties. Physics forms part of Science on our Years 9–11 pathway.
Understand the situation before choosing an equation
Before reaching for an equation, students need to understand the situation. We work through what is changing, which information matters and what relationship connects it. Once that is clear, choosing and using the equation becomes a reasoned step.
How we teach GCSE Physics
Forces, motion and energy
Students explain the situation, choose the relevant ideas and work through the calculation. Their working shows the tutor whether the difficulty is in the physics or the maths.
Electricity and physical systems
We connect circuit diagrams with what is happening in the circuit. Explanations and calculation practice help students check they understand how the quantities relate.
Waves, matter and evidence
Students work with models, observations and evidence, then practise putting the explanation into words. We check that they can apply the idea to a new example.
Strengthen the maths inside Physics
Rearranging equations, converting units and reading graphs can all interrupt a good understanding of Physics. We practise those skills within the questions where students need them. Tutors look closely at the working, so a repeated mistake can be addressed at its source.
Apply understanding to unfamiliar questions
We use questions that ask students to connect ideas and work through several stages. Timed practice and feedback help them recognise a useful starting point, explain their reasoning and check the result. The aim is confidence when the example on the paper is new.
How Physics fits into the GCSE programme
Physics is taught alongside Biology and Chemistry within our weekend GCSE programme. Students attend eight hours on Saturday or Sunday: four hours of Science, two of Maths and two of English. The complete package costs £100 per session.
For focused subject support, weekday sessions run for around three hours at £12.50 per hour, about £37.50 per session. Ask us about the Science classes available and how Physics fits into the timetable.
GCSE Physics FAQs
Weekend students take Science, Maths and English as a complete package. Weekday tuition offers subject flexibility. Tell us that Physics is the priority, and we will explain the relevant Science class options.
We work on the maths alongside the Physics, including equations, units and graphs. Bring examples of difficult questions so we can find the gap and explain how the Maths and Science parts of the programme can help.
We cover all exam boards. Tell us whether your child takes Combined Science or separate Physics, together with their tier, so we can match the teaching and exam practice to the right course.
Yes. Students practise explaining the physical idea, connecting it to the situation in the question and setting out the reasoning clearly. We give feedback on what the answer needs to include.
Start with what the question tells them and what it asks them to find. We practise identifying the underlying idea, choosing a starting point and working through the stages in class.
Build support across Maths and Science
Maths, Biology and Chemistry sit alongside Physics in our GCSE programme. Explore how we teach each subject, or visit the GCSE page for the complete pathway, fees and attendance options.
Help your child get started in Physics
Tell us your child's year group, course and the questions they find difficult. We will talk you through the programme and help you find the right class.
