Medicine, Dentistry & Competitive Applications

Specialist support, from A-Levels to admission

We don't simply help students finish an application. We develop competitive applicants — the grades, the admissions test, the strategy, the written application and the interview.

Why Advanced Tuition

This is not generic UCAS advice

Advanced Tuition has been supporting Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary and Oxbridge applications for over ten years, in the UK and in Europe.

Our founder is a qualified dentist who went through the dental admissions process himself, and has since helped more than 50 students into Medicine and Dentistry. That first-hand experience is the foundation of the programme.

It is no longer only his. Our team now includes former Advanced Tuition students who have themselves progressed into Medicine, Dentistry, healthcare degrees and related professional careers — and who come back to help the students behind them.

Getting in is not one event

  1. A-Level grades
  2. Career exploration
  3. Work experience
  4. Admissions test
  5. University strategy
  6. Written application
  7. Interview
  8. Offers

We support students across the whole pathway, and adapt it for graduate-entry applicants. No part of this is a guarantee of a place — competitive admissions never are. What we offer is experience of every stage of it.

Supported at every stage, from A-Level grades through to interview.

Our founder is a qualified dentist who went through the process himself, and has since helped more than 50 students into Medicine and Dentistry.

What the programme covers

Grades first, then the application

  1. Academic performance comes first

Before admissions tests and interviews, the grades have to be there. This is where the programme connects directly to our A-Level teaching — intensive tuition in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and the other subjects competitive healthcare applications rest on. We can support both sides: getting the grades to apply, and building the application to compete.

  2. UCAT preparation

Structured preparation, not a question bank login. Understanding the test, building the specific skills, finding the weaker sections, practising under timed conditions, improving speed and accuracy, and developing a preparation strategy that fits the individual student. Former students who have sat the UCAT and gone on to Medicine or Dentistry contribute to this.

  3. Graduate entry and GAMSAT

The programme is not only for school-leavers. Some of our former students return after a degree, having decided on Medicine or another graduate-entry healthcare route, and we support them with the relevant admissions preparation including GAMSAT where it is required.

  4. Choosing the right universities

Different medical and dental schools weight applications differently. Choosing on reputation alone costs students places. We help them think strategically about their academic profile, admissions-test performance, where their strengths and weaknesses sit, and which courses their particular profile is most competitive for.

  5. The written application

Understanding what universities are actually looking for, reflecting properly on experience, communicating motivation, identifying meaningful evidence and structuring it clearly. We coach students to write it. We do not write it for them.

  6. Interview preparation

Communicating under pressure, explaining motivation, reflecting on experience, working through professional scenarios and unfamiliar questions, and presenting authentically. Including the interview formats particular universities use — prepared with people who have sat those interviews and entered the profession.

Work experience

Experience worth reflecting on

Our team and network include people working across medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, optometry and the wider healthcare professions.

Where it is possible, we help students find appropriate work experience, professional exposure, observation and career insight. We are careful not to promise placements we cannot control — but the network is real, and it opens doors.

The point is not a line on an application. It is helping a student answer an honest question early: is this actually the career I want? Then teaching them how to reflect on what they saw and what it taught them about the profession.

  1. Advanced Tuition student
  2. Successful applicant
  3. Medical or dental student
  4. Graduate
  5. Professional
  6. Tutor & mentor

"I was an Advanced Tuition student too. I sat where you are sitting. I went through this process, got my place, and I am now in the profession." That is something no admissions guide can provide — credible evidence that the pathway is achievable. Our alumni are at every stage of it, from current applicants through to practising doctors and dentists, which means a student can learn from someone a year ahead of them and someone a decade ahead.

Other highly competitive applications

Medicine and Dentistry are where our experience runs deepest, but the same infrastructure supports other competitive routes.

UK & European routes

Where a student does not get the outcome they wanted in the UK, or where studying abroad genuinely suits their circumstances, we have experience of European medical and dental routes. A considered alternative, not a fallback we assume.

Veterinary Medicine

Supported within the same programme, drawing on the same academic teaching, admissions preparation and application strategy.

Oxbridge & other competitive courses

Strong academics, experienced tutors, admissions preparation, alumni insight, interview support and application strategy apply just as well to Oxbridge and other highly competitive applications.

Questions

Medicine & Dentistry FAQs

No, and you should be wary of anyone who says otherwise. Competitive admissions are never guaranteed. What we provide is specialist support at every stage, experience of the process, and a network of people who have been through it.

Our current students, and our graduates — former Advanced Tuition students who want advice or who are applying to university through us. Our graduates also get the same careers support we give current students.

Yes, including GAMSAT preparation where it is needed. Graduates who studied with us can come back years later for support with the next stage.

No. We coach you to write it — helping you reflect on your experience, identify what genuinely evidences your motivation, and structure it clearly. Universities can tell the difference, and so can interviewers.

We can often help, through our alumni and professional network, but we never present a placement at a particular organisation as guaranteed. Where we can facilitate something appropriate, we will.
