GCSE Maths tuition in London

GCSE Maths becomes easier when the foundations are secure. At Advanced Tuition in London, we find the gaps, work through them with your child and practise applying each method to exam questions. Classes of up to five give tutors time to see how every student is thinking. Maths sits within our Years 9–11 pathway alongside English and Science.

Find the gap and build from there

A student can struggle with a new topic because something much earlier is still unclear. Fractions, algebra or rearranging a formula can hold up an otherwise good answer. We look at the student's working, find the missing step and teach it carefully. Then we check they can use it in a different question.

How we build GCSE Maths skills

Number and algebra

We work through the number skills and algebra that later topics depend on. Students explain their steps, so the tutor can see exactly where a method stops making sense.

Shape, proportion and graphs

Diagrams, graphs and proportion questions ask students to turn information into a method. We teach them how to read the problem, choose the useful details and explain their approach.

Statistics and probability

Students learn to interpret data, work with probability and check what a result actually tells them. We look at the reasoning as closely as the calculation.

Put the method into practice

Exam questions rarely tell a student exactly which method to use. We practise making that choice, setting out the working and checking the answer. Timed questions and marked feedback show where marks are being lost, whether that is an arithmetic slip, a missing step or a misunderstanding of the question.

Keep the learning moving between sessions

Regular practice helps a method become familiar. We encourage students to bring back the questions they could not finish, with their working intact. That gives the tutor something useful to act on at the next session. Parents receive regular updates on progress and the areas that still need work.

How Maths fits into the GCSE programme

The weekend GCSE programme costs £100 for eight hours on a Saturday or Sunday: four hours of Science, two of Maths and two of English. Students take the whole package. Teaching across the core subjects helps them develop the reasoning, communication and study habits they use throughout GCSE.

For focused Maths support, the weekday programme offers around three hours on one subject at £12.50 per hour, about £37.50 per session. Tell us which days work for your family and we will explain the available classes.

Questions

GCSE Maths FAQs

Yes, through the weekday programme, subject to class availability. The weekend programme includes English, Maths and Science together. We can talk you through both options and help you choose the one that fits.

Yes. We start by finding out what your child understands and where the gaps are. The tutor then works through those gaps and checks progress through practice, giving later topics a firmer foundation.

Yes. We cover all exam boards, and knowing your child's board and tier helps us match the teaching and questions to their course. Bring any recent school feedback or examples of difficult work too.

Our programme follows a planned sequence, so the order may differ from school. Students should tell their tutor what they are covering and bring any difficulties to the session. We can then see how that fits with the work ahead.

Students should expect to practise between sessions. The tutor will explain the work for their class and how it connects to the lesson. If a question proves difficult, bring the attempt back so we can work out what needs attention.
