About Us

An academic community, built since 2014

Founded in 2014 and grown into one of London's leading GCSE and A-Level providers — not by scaling up class sizes, but by staying close to the students we teach, and by watching a good many of them come back to teach here themselves.

Our approach
Who teaches here

The people at the front of the room

Advanced Tuition is a collective of high-achieving undergraduates, postgraduates, working professionals and qualified teachers.

The team includes graduates and professionals from medicine, dentistry, optometry, pharmacy, engineering, physics, economics, chemistry and education. Many began teaching GCSE and A-Level students soon after sitting their own A-Levels, and carried on through university, postgraduate study and their careers.

That matters more than a list of qualifications. It means the person teaching a GCSE chemistry class has often been teaching that same specification for years, and sat it themselves not long before.

Our students become our teachers

This is the part of Advanced Tuition that took a decade to build and cannot be copied quickly.

High-performing students who graduate from Advanced Tuition can return and apply to join the teaching team. Those with the academic ability, communication skills and teaching potential go through the same recruitment and interview process as anyone else. Hundreds of our graduates have gone on through university into careers across healthcare, science, engineering and finance — some return as tutors, some as mentors, some as Careers Day speakers, and many simply stay connected.

Quality assurance

What happens after a tutor is hired

Most tuition centres check a tutor at the door and never look again. We run an internal teaching quality-assurance process that continues for as long as someone teaches here.

New tutors are mentored and supported. Lessons are observed. Feedback is gathered from students and from teachers, and used to identify where a tutor can improve — feeding into appraisals, development plans where they are needed, and into the interview process for the next intake. Recruit, check, train, observe, support, gather feedback, develop.

It is led by Fuad Moalim, whose own path illustrates the model as well as anything. Fuad was a student at Advanced Tuition. He went on to study Chemistry at Queen Mary University of London and returned here as a tutor while at university, progressing from GCSE classes to Year 12 and Year 13. After demonstrating particularly strong teaching, professionalism and student engagement, he was given responsibility for developing other tutors — and for the last four to five years has led tutor mentoring, lesson observation, feedback, appraisal and development planning, alongside a professional career in quality assurance.

Almost all of our tutors were Advanced Tuition students first.

They sat these papers recently, came back to teach, and went through our full recruitment and interview process before joining.

What we offer

From Year 9 through to university

GCSE programme

A three-year Year 9-11 pathway in English, Maths and Science, in classes of up to five students — as a complete weekend package or flexible single-subject weekdays.

A-Level programme

Specialist subject teaching in four-hour weekend sessions, with complete syllabus coverage, our own resources and an online learning community.

Medicine & Dentistry

A dedicated programme for competitive healthcare applications — admissions tests, university strategy, written applications and interviews.

UCAS & careers support

University choices, personal statements and interview preparation, backed by alumni who made those decisions recently.

Careers Days

Students from GCSE upwards meet people working in the professions, and start asking what they are good at and where it could lead.

Year-round enrolment

Students join throughout the year rather than only in September. Places are limited, which is how we keep classes small.

  • DBS-checked & safeguarding-trained
  • Two-manager interview process
  • Ongoing lesson observation
  • Small classes, taught by specialists
