Workshops

Preparing students for more than their grades

Grades open the door. Our workshops prepare students for the rest of the journey — admissions tests, interviews, career choices, and the skills that carry well beyond university.

Workshops

University applications ask for more than results. These workshops cover the stages beyond the exam hall, and the softer skills that make a student stand out.

The UCAT is the clinical aptitude test used by most UK medical and dental schools, which makes it one of the most important parts of a Medicine or Dentistry application.

Our UCAT workshop is led and trained by professionals who scored very highly in the UCAT themselves. They know the test from the inside, and teach students how to approach each section with confidence.

  • Led by tutors with high UCAT scores of their own
  • Built for Medicine and Dentistry applicants
  • Part of our wider admissions programme

When Over the summer, from June to September.

Interview prep is not only about succeeding in a university interview. It gives students the confidence to handle any interview, at any stage of life.

Students learn to answer difficult questions, use commanding language, and communicate effectively — not just in what they say, but through their body language and tone.

Sessions are led and trained by professionals working in the field each student is looking to enter, so they prepare with someone who knows what that field expects.

  • Answering difficult questions with confidence
  • Language, body language and tone
  • Led by professionals from the student’s chosen field

When Throughout the year, with most sessions between October and January.

Our annual careers fair shows students the variety of career pathways open to them — and how the professionals on those paths got to where they are.

Speakers from a range of fields talk about the routes they took and how their professions have changed over the last few years.

At the end of the fair, students meet the speakers directly. It is an introduction to networking, and an early lesson in how to take up space in any environment.

  • Career pathways, first-hand
  • How professions are changing
  • A first step into networking

When Once a year, usually in April or May.

We have always encouraged our students to look beyond academia. Our charity programme runs over a month each spring.

Students run fundraising events — from online FIFA tournaments and bake sales to selling their own creative work. At the end, they present the charities they connect with most, and all of Advanced Tuition votes on where the proceeds go.

It gives students, and especially our A-Level students, a platform to understand socioeconomic ideas and engage with the world they will soon be joining. We believe the importance of community is something every young mind should understand.

  • Student-run fundraising events
  • Presenting a cause to the whole centre
  • A centre-wide vote on where the money goes

When Once a year, running for a month in spring.

A timetable only helps if a student can stick to it. We build each one around the individual student, to create a routine that actually works.

Working with our professionals, students plan how to use their time at school — including free periods — and after school, effectively.

The timetables are detailed, down to which topics to cover and when to do question practice, which makes them much easier to follow. They also leave free time for hobbies, because rest is part of preventing burnout.

  • Planned down to topic level
  • Free periods and after-school time used well
  • Free time built in to prevent burnout

When Throughout the year as students join, with most between September and October.
