A-Level tuition

A-Level Maths tuition in London

A-Level Maths moves quickly, and a gap in algebra can follow a student into several topics. At Advanced Tuition in London, we teach the complete course in four-hour weekend sessions, building the understanding and fluency each stage needs. Small classes, specialist tutors and carefully chosen questions help students work through difficulties, with resources and support between lessons.

Give the next topic a firm starting point

When a student gets stuck, we look at the working and find out why. It may be an earlier algebra skill, a new concept or the connection between them. We teach that step, practise it and check it again, so progress through the course rests on understanding.

Work across pure and applied maths

Pure mathematics

Algebra, geometry and the reasoning behind each method are taught together. We ask students to explain their steps, which shows us whether an earlier skill needs more work.

Mechanics

Students learn to turn a physical situation into a mathematical model. We work through the assumptions, the relationships and the calculation, checking what the answer means.

Statistics

We teach students to interpret data and work carefully with uncertainty. Questions check both the calculation and the conclusion they draw from it.

Know where to start with a longer question

A longer problem can bring several topics together. We practise reading the question, identifying the useful information and choosing an approach. Tutors then review the working with the student, showing where a missing idea or an inaccurate step has changed the outcome.

Bring the working, including the difficult attempts

The question a student could not finish often tells us the most. We encourage students to bring their attempts to class and use the online community to raise questions between sessions. Selected practice helps us check that a method has become something they can use independently.

A complete course, taught by subject specialists

We teach pure maths, mechanics and statistics through a planned programme, with exam questions and technique built in from the start. Our tutors are assessed on how clearly they explain demanding material and how well students engage. Lesson observation, feedback and development continue throughout their time teaching here.

Support continues between sessions

Moodle gives students access to tutor notes, worked material and questions chosen to build particular skills. The online student community lets them post a difficult problem, discuss an approach and learn from one another. Tutors and management are involved, and recurring difficulties can be picked up in the next lesson.

Questions

A-Level Maths FAQs

We teach the full course, with concepts, practice, assessment and exam technique built into the programme. If a student has a gap, we work through it as part of that teaching. The order may differ from college, so students should tell us what they are covering there too.

Yes. Pure maths, mechanics and statistics are part of our teaching, and we cover all exam boards. Tell us your qualification and board so we can explain how the class is organised.

Yes. The pace and depth change at A-Level. We work on the earlier skills students need, explain the new ideas carefully and help them build the independent practice habits the course demands.

We look at the point where you lose your way. Then we practise recognising what the question is asking, choosing a useful method and explaining why it fits. Bring your attempts so the tutor can see your thinking.

Yes. Further Maths is a separate qualification, taught alongside the main Maths programme. Visit our Further Maths page and tell us your exam board and options so we can explain the relevant class.

Connect Maths with your other subjects

Maths supports work in Physics and Economics as well as later study. Explore those subjects, or visit the A-Level programme page for the wider teaching, university guidance and careers support available to students.

Work towards greater confidence in Maths

Tell us your subjects, exam board and where Maths becomes difficult. We will talk you through the programme and available places.
